If you're here, you are probably thinking about OR you're going to Disney World in Orlando, Florida!! We have put together this itinerary so you can make the most out of your day in the Magic Kingdom! This guide has everything you need, from the best rides, must eat snacks, iconic photo spots, and hidden gems you don't want to miss.

If you only have one day at Disney World, this is the park to go to! The Magic Kingdom park has the ultimate childhood nostalgia and nothing beats the gorgeous castle! If you can, we suggest purchasing the Lighting Lane option to optimize your time there. This helps you skip the stand by line and join a shorter line for select attractions. We recommend the Multi Pass, where you can choose up to 3 rides ahead of time. Once you use one up you can book another attraction! (keep in mind that you can only book 1 Lighting Lane per ride) It ranges from $30-$50 depending on how busy the park is, but we promise it is SO worth it!! However, if you choose to not purchase it, you can still see and ride the popular attractions with the right plan and itinerary!

Morning: Rope Drop to Fantasyland or tomorrowland

Get there early (trust us!)

Aim to arrive 30-40 minutes before the park opens- this is how you beat the crowds and ride the popular rides with little wait. When you arrive to the entrance you will need to take the Monorail or the Boat to the actual park. The Monorail is quicker in our opinion but it can have a long line. The Boat is perfect and so magical- you get amazing views of the resorts and nothing compares to the view of the castle from the boat.

First stops (head there immediately)

  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (Fantasyland)

    • Such a cute ride but it is one of the busiest!!

  • TRON Lightcycle Run (Tomorrowland)

    • One of the coolest rides in our opinion!! It's the newest ride so it gets very busy!

After riding TRON or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, head to Tomorrowland in between the People Mover and Space Mountain for a Joffrey's coffee and donut! This is perfect for a grab and go breakfast! You could always get Starbucks on Main Street, but Joffrey's coffee is SO good and it is ONLY on Disney property, so it's a must when you're at the parks! Or you can also visit the Cheshire Café for the yummiest pastry called the Cheshire Cat Tail.

MUST EATS FOR BREAKFAST

  • Joffrey's Coffee & Tea Company (Tomorrowland)

    • Iced Vanilla Latte ($6.79)

    • Sprinkled Donut ($6.49)

  • Cheshire Café (Fantasyland)

    • Cheshire Cat tail ($6.29)

    • The White Rabbit Coffee ($6.49)

  • Westward Ho (Frontierland)

    • Mickey-shaped Bacon- Pecan- Caramel Cinnamon Roll ($8.49)

If at any point your feet need a much needed rest, go to Tomorrowland and hop on the People Mover. It takes you around Tomorrowland and the different attractions! It actually takes you in through Space Mountain- you can hear the carts and people as you pass by it! You can also see the Buzz Lightyear Space Rangers, Cinderella's castle, and TRON. After that check out Monsters Inc Laugh Floor. It is a show not a ride, but it is so fun and interactive! Every show is different given that these are live comedians and they think on the spot!

Photo moment:

As you make your way out of Tomorrowland, stop to the side of Cinderella's castle while the lighting is soft and crowds are low! You can always go to the front of the castle but there will be lots of people, we enjoy going to the sides of it because there is usually nobody there!

Head to Frontierland

After taking pictures by the castle, head to Frontierland to ride Tiana's Bayou Adventure! To get there you will go to your left if you're facing the castle and walk over the bridge. There are so many cute stores on your way to Tiana's such as the Christmas Store where they have Christmas ornaments year round and Frontier Trading Post where they have pins you can purchase if you like to Pin Trade! Take an immediate left when you get to the Liberty Bell and continue to walk all the way towards the back of Frontierland.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure

This ride is so cute and detailed! It recently got re-themed from Splash Mountain to Tiana. The queue is adorable and the ride itself takes you through the story of the movie! You are in the river traveling on a log- so there is a possibility that you may get wet!! Take in the views of the park at the top of the ride before you drop down. After the ride head over to the left side of the ride to find the beignets! There is a cart that sells Tiana's beignets which are not only iconic from the movie but also so delicious. If the cart is not there you can also find them at Golden Oak Outpost! If you continue walking towards the end of Frontierland you will find yourself at Pirates of the Caribbean!

Adventureland

This part of the park is called Adventureland, where you will find attractions such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, The Enchanted Tiki Room, and the Swiss Family Treehouse.

Pirates of the Caribbean

If you have time to ride Pirates of the Caribbean definitely do it! Wait times are usually low, and it is all indoors- this makes a great ride if its raining or if it gets too hot outside! Next to the ride they have the newest restaurant addition to the Magic Kingdom called The Beak and Barrel (reservations only!) It is a pirate's life inspired tavern where they have various fun snacks and cocktails!!! (this is one of the only places that you will find an alcoholic beverage in the park) They also have non-alcoholic drinks that are inspired by the Caribbean. We recommend getting a reservation 1-3 months in advance to ensure you are able to go if it is something you really want to do!

MUST EAT Snacks!

  • The Beak and Barrel:

    • Hibiscus Rum Punch Royale ($19)

    • Cook's Corn Griddle Cakes ($12-14)

    • Treasure Trove Non-alcoholic beverage ($13.75)

  • Aloha Isle:

    • DOLE Whip soft serve cup ($5.99)

  • Sunshine Tree Terrace:

    • DOLE Whip Orange cup ($5.79)

    • DOLE Whip Strawberry cup ($5.79)

Other attractions in ADventureland

  • Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room

    • Such a cute show ran every 10 minutes! If you have time to stop and watch it you wont regret it. You may walk out singing the song because it is that catchy!

  • Jungle Cruise

    • Iconic for its Skippers, the tour guides on the boat! They are hilarious and make this original ride so much fun. It is a short ride through the rivers across Asia, Africa, and South America where you can encounter exotic animals.

  • Swiss Family Treehouse

    • If you have seen the classic movie, it is a must to stop by and walk around this ultimate tree house.

Lunch time

As you head out of Adventureland you will find yourself back towards Main Street USA and Cinderella's Castle. Casey's Corner is a must eat on our list every time we visit! They have Hot Dogs, Loaded Fries, and our favorite, the Mini Corn Dogs. You may find that the tables outside of Casey's Corner are always busy, but our recommendation is to order ahead on the Walt Disney World app and take your food to the Hub Grass!

Another great lunch option is the Columbia Harbor House located in Liberty Square near the Haunted Mansion. You can also order ahead with the app, which is so convenient. They have indoor seating which is great if you want to cool down and hang out for a bit. If you eat here please get the hush puppies, they are amazing!!

MUST EAT FOR LUNCH

  • Casey's Corner:

    • Loaded Fries

    • Mini Corn Dogs

  • Columbia Harbor House:

    • Lobster roll

    • Trio Platter

    • Hushpuppies

    • Chocolate Chip Cookies!!

Afternoon shows and shopping

The Magic Kingdom parades are pure magic- find a spot on Main Street USA about 20-30 minutes before the parade starts for the best view! A lot of people choose to watch the parade by the castle, but our recommendation is to watch it outside of the stores on Main Street or by the park entrance underneath the Railroad to get the best pictures and views of the parade with the castle behind!

Since you will be on Main Street pop into the stores and buy souvenirs! Its always fun to walk around and look at the merch! A little tip- you can actually walk from store to store without even having to go outside- all the stores on the right side of Main Street all connect!

While you are on Main Street, check out the confectionary for another Must Eat sweet treat!! Make your own popcorn (so fun for content but also so delicious!)

Late afternoon rides

After watching the parade, shopping, and a sweet treat its time for a couple of more rides!

Dinner time

Usually we are so full after all of the snacks we have tried, but what we like to do is if we ate at Casey's Corner for lunch then we will have Columbia Harbor House for dinner or vice-versa! Here are other restaurants that have great options for dinner:

  • Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe (Tomorrowland)

    • Bacon Cheeseburger ($13.99)

Night time Rides and Shows

Circle back to a couple of rides if you didn't get the chance to ride them OR if you want to ride them again! Night rides hit different- the wait times are usually shorter and the vibes are magical!

  • TRON LightCycle Run- so cool because you get to see all of the lights of the ride glitter!

  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train- see the castle all light up- Bonus points if you're on the ride as the fireworks are going off!!

  • Space Mountain- so much fun when its night time, can't explain it but just trust us!

End your magical day with the Magic Kingdom fireworks in front of the castle! Try to get a spot 30-45 minutes early because it becomes a sea of people! The firework show is stunning! There are projections on Cinderella's Castle matched to music that make this show emotional, innovative, and overall one of the best magical shows. It truly feels like the beginning of every Disney movie! P.S. you may cry a little :')

PRO TIP: When you get to your spot try not to split your group up/ send someone to get hot chocolate/ coffee/ treats. The cast members usually block off sections a few minutes before the show starts, so if you leave your spot and try to come back you will most likely be stuck and not able to see the full show. We enjoy getting coffee before we lock down our spot and enjoy it while we wait for the show to start.
